The shark doesn't just follow you at a fixed distance; it lunges, snaps its jaws, and speeds up when you slow down. The water physics add a subtle floatiness to your movement that takes a few runs to get used to — you're not running on solid ground, you're swimming, and the controls reflect that. Collecting coins, dodging coral formations, and grabbing speed boosts all while watching that dorsal fin close in behind you creates a surprisingly tense experience.

The downside is repetition. After a few runs, you'll notice the obstacle patterns repeat, and the coin economy doesn't lead to any meaningful upgrades — just score chasing. A shop system or unlockable characters would have extended its life dramatically. Still, for a quick adrenaline hit, Shark Escape delivers more tension than most browser games manage.
